5 Mom Mantras to Repeat Throughout the Summer

It’s the most wonderful time of the year; summer break.

Even so, with extra together time and a shift in routine, life can become a little more messy than usual.

Don’t get me wrong, I adore my kids and am praying for a wonderful summer of memories and bonding experiences, but sometimes summer takes extra patience, deep breaths and a heart determined to stay strong among those tough moments.  {Or maybe this is just my family…}

What every busy mom needs to keep her calm in the midst of chaos, is a few mom mantras for those moments she just might lose it.

Let it go.

Taking a cue from Elsa, vow to let the little things go and don’t sweat the small stuff.

Let the need for perfection slide by.

Free yourself from lofty expectations and embrace the reality of your family and love them as they are.

Let go of the comparison of friend’s vacations and activities.

You’ll be happier and more at peace when you release your unrealistic expectations and accept your life as a blessing just the way it is.

A fabulous resource for managing life and expectations during this busy season is

Don't let summer break get the best of you, mama! These "mom mantras" will help you thrive and not just survive this season with your kids!

A little mess never hurt.

My kids can wreck a room in the blink of an eye.  Summer seems to be especially messy around our house, and my expectations of having everything neat and in it’s place all the time needs to be adjusted.

Sometimes the best memories are made with mud pies and homemade sticky goo, so go ahead and let the kids get messy this summer.

It’ll be ok. I promise.

God is my strength and I can do all things through Him.

Yep, no matter how many times the kids fight over petty things or you’re afraid to ride the tallest roller coaster in the park, God’s strength will carry you.

Consider Him your tour guide through life, and even when you’re trapped in the car for 10 hours, He’s your source for peace, joy, and self-control.

Rely on Him for strength in those messy moments and use this precious time with your children to teach them more about His love and grace.

They’re only little once.

Remembering that you’ll only have this summer once with your children, makes a mom want to freeze time. Enjoy this precious time with them and make memories!

While you’re not their circus clown and life shouldn’t be about constant entertainment, plan those special moments each week that everyone will remember and will help you bond together as a family.

I am flexible!

Why is it that when we have grand plans, something seems to change?  This summer, embrace a flexible schedule, learning to go with the flow and change plans or your schedule in an instant.

So say a little prayer, take a few deep breaths, and learn to smile as life happens and plans change!

Remember, these summer days are fleeting and will be gone before you know it; so embrace these moments, even the messy ones, and enjoy the children God blessed you with.  They won’t be little long!

What “mom mantra” is on repeat in your mind and gets you through those stressful moments?

Great tips! And ones I sometimes tend to forget. 🙂 I can be a little too much of a perfectionist when it comes to thinks like summer planning, and need a good reminder to ‘let it go’. 🙂 Thanks again!

OH this is just so great Sarah! I have been forcing myself to really invest in a promise to myself for this summer… to truly allow myself to LIVE in the MOMENT. I need to not battle for time, and pace the race, and constantly feel the pull of doing those “to do”s every chance I can…

I am going to allow myself to LIVE and not always be captive of productivity and getting things done. My kids deserve my attention, and I deserve the joy in giving it to them!

Putting these on my fridge!! Great reminders to have daily. There are times I feel like an event coordinator and short order cook. With three kids of various ages (15, 11, 5) I’ve had to hold “kitchen hours!” 😉 A summer bucket list has always helped too. Thanks again for a great post. Signed up for your printable pages as well. 🙂

YES. They are only little once – you can clean later! Enjoy your summer with your sweet ones while you can. I took mine to the pool every day when they were little – mom time + play mate time = I survived. Sweet memories!

    And flexibility – priceless.

I had four, they grew up, and I don’t know how that happened. There is one still home, but she is in college so I know my days are numbered. Now I wish I hadn’t sweated so much small stuff. But I did try.

And laugh, laugh, LAUGH, that would be my main tidbit of advice. Kids are FUNNY. Enjoy them, I did manage to do that right!

Found you on SITS Saturday – following now!

Yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes!
I have been thinking about these things already this summer. For us with a baby on the way in a matter of weeks I feel pressure to get everything done- when I should be letting things go and soaking in this time that God has given me!!!
