Praying the Fruit of the Spirit for Your Mom Heart

Each new day is a gift from God.

Another opportunity to worship Him by serving the ones we love. Our husbands, our children, anyone God has placed within our sphere of influence.

As 2016 comes to an end, we’re presented with the gift of a new year. Another 365 days to worship God as we nurture our family and friends.

Sometimes that sounds warm and cozy and fun. Other times it’s just plain intimidating!

Have you ever stopped to consider just what God is asking you to do every day of the year?

A mom's job is never done, and it can be temping to slip into a place overwhelm. But God wants more for moms. Grab your FREE printable prayer calendar designed to help moms thrive in all seasons of motherhood.

LOVE unselfishly.

Serve with JOY every. messy. day!

Rest at PEACE in the midst of trials.

PATIENTLY endure being mistreated or ignored.

Respond with KINDNESS to everyone.

Overcome evil with GOODNESS.

FAITHFULLY trust God in every situation.

Display GENTLENESS in our words and actions.

Practice SELF-CONTROL in all things.

To love and serve others the way Christ has loved us . . . whole-heartedly, selflessly, sacrificially, unceasingly . . . that can be a daunting task.

My fellow moms, we cannot live out our days that way in our own power and might. We can only worship, love, and serve well when we rely on the Spirit of God. (Zechariah 4:6)

The big, bold words in that list above – do you recognize them? They’re the fruit of the Spirit listed in Galatians 5:22-23.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23

Those are the qualities God wants us to practice as we nurture the relationships around us this year. But we tend to get busy taking care of everyone else and forget our own personal heart care. And then we attempt to keep going in our own strength and fail.

It doesn’t have to be that way. God has given us His Spirit to nurture the fruits of righteousness in us.

I’m really looking forward to seeing God’s power at work, changing me as I pray the fruit of the Spirit for my own heart.

Remember that growing fruit takes time, and it takes work! Take hope and courage in the faithfulness of God to do what He has promised.

For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.

Philippians 1:6
